Aromatherapy is a healing treatment which makes use of plant extracts and natural oils to promote health and well being. Not only does it focus on the physical body, but also mind and spirit. It is therefore classified as an holistic healing treatment.

The practice has been in existence for thousands of years during which time cultures like India, China and Egypt made use of aromatic plant extracts in resins, balms and oils for medical and religious purposes. These were understood to have both physical and psychological benefits

How Does Aromatherapy Work?

As the name suggests, Aromatherapy is applied through smell and skin absorption by means of diffusers, inhalers, spritzers, bathing salts, creams, body oils and lotions, etc. The aromas that are emitted and the oils that are applied to and absorbed by the body define the treatment.

Essential oils are available from many sources, including specialised retailers, online stores and supermarkets.

Aromatherapy has the potential to reduce stress and anxiety and can contribute to the quality of sleep and relaxation. It can help with digestion and has the potential to boost immunity. Soothing aromas can also help with headaches and manage different types of pain.

Who Is This For?

Notwithstanding the obvious benefits of scientific medicine, many people choose alternative forms of healthcare and specifically look to natural remedies as a means of allowing the body and mind to work in tandem with nature.

There is no specific reason one would want to try aromatherapy other than to investigate alternatives and to perhaps seek a less chemically invasive means of healing and health boosting alternatives to modern medicine.

TeachKuwait's Approach

There are two ways we approach Aromatherapy treatment - teaching and administering.

  • We provide brief instructional courses designed to introduce the concepts, and teach how to administer Aromatherapy.
  • We also provide therapy treatments in a personal and relaxing environment and help to incorporate Aromatherapy into calming routines that include yoga, tai chi and even meditation.
  • Aromatherapy is, on the whole, a personal health choice and pursuit, so we strive to guide, inform and encourage the discipline of practicing a health routine of choice, whatever that may be.
